droppin' pills like t.o.
The Red Sox just finished third in the AL East for the first time in approximately 67 billion years. I am annoyed.
The Twins also won the AL Central, and while I have nothing against Minnesota, the A's now have to open this series on the road and I have to miss half of the first two games since I'll be in class. I am further annoyed, although I will be making a beeline for the Boston University pub soon thereafter.
Although Laurence Maroney just ran for 125 yards and the Patriots, surprisingly, beat the Bengals, so today hasn't been all bad for New England sports fans. Way to become redheaded stepchildren, Sox.
The playoff schedule looks something like this --
A's @ Twins, Tue., 1 p.m.
Cardinals @ Padres, Tue., 4 p.m.
Tigers @ Yankees, Tue., 8 p.m.
Dodgers @ Mets, Wed., 4 p.m.
Your friendly neighborhood Chickball writers will be making sure that you know their every thought on these series. Here's a preview.
AMY: I hate the Cardinals!
BETH: I hate the Yankees!
PAM: Joe Mauer is better than Rich Harden!
SUZIE: BITCH, I WILL CUT YOU!
EMILY: Suckers. I'm watching football.

let me just correct the record - i do not by any stretch of the imagination hate the cardinals. well, maybe by a STRETCH of the imagination, but not by the typical imagination as a whole. the cards hate the 'stros a lot more than we hate them. i hate the braves, and i hate the yankees, but the cards... well... i mean seriously, the astros didn't have much of a chance, although they gave me a lovely little heart palpitation there at the end.
i'm going to be focusing on the positive for october, which mostly means, "GO TIGERS" (they really are my adopted playoff team) and "GO ANYONE WHO BEATS THE YANKEES" (because, well, this is always true). it only further helps that the tigers are beginning the playoffs against the aforementioned yankees.
well, if amy doesn't hate the cards, i do. also, how did the tigers go from leading the universe to being edged out by the twins? it's amazing how things can change in 3 short months...
But if you don't hate the Cardinals, it screws up the dynamic of my incredibly carefully plotted joke, Amy. DO NOT TAKE AWAY MY LAST VESTIGES OF FUNNY.
