Suckers. I'm watching football.

Baseball is exciting. It's emotional and intense and suspenseful. But never in my long career of baseball fandom have I screamed at the TV "RUN YOU BASTARD RUN". Never. The only sport that moves me to that kind of adrenal high is football. I don't care what team is playing in football (in the incident in question it was Packers v Eagles), it's always intense. And this post will explain why I love football so very much with highlights from the weekend's games.

The Pain
Unless you don't expose yourself to the news, you've heard about the Titans foot-head incident. I'll break it down for you: Titans v Cowboys, Albert Haynesworth (Titans Defensive Tackle), after the ball was down, kicked off Andre Gurode's (Cowboys Center) helmet and brought his foot down on Gurode's head, which immediately started pooling blood onto the field (scary, but kinda cool to see). The guy needed almost 30 stitches. Haynesworth is suspended for 5 games, which I think is highly appropriate, considering SERIOUSLY, HE KICKED SOMEONE ON THE GROUND IN THE FACE WITH CLEATS. Intense and emotional? Check.

The Comeback
The Chargers v Ravens game was intensely suspensful, considering the Chargers dominated the entire first 3 quarters. And then the Ravens (and the to-be-watched Steve McNair) put on the heat and repulsed the Chargers for a 3 point win, maintaining their perfect record (wait, did I just use "Ravens" and "perfect record" in the same sentence?). It takes real guts to come back in the last quarter of any game, but football is especially a mental sport. There's so much physical pain that gets mixed in with emotions, it's hard to extract logic and method when the chips are down. The Ravens did it. Watch this team.

The Young Bucks
Let's talk about the entire Green Bay team (minus Favre, who is teh ancient). A majority of these players are under 25. And here I sit, watching Mr. Favre mold them into an effective and efficient throwing team. Wow people. Nobody expects nothing from the Pack, but there's something there. Give these guys a year or two (I guarantee you that Favre will still be there), they'll suprise you. Besides that, rookie RB Laurence Maroney is pretty much the reason the Patriots took out Carson Palmer (a favorite of this blogger, as you probably know faithful Chickball reader). He's amazing and probably the best bet to resurrect the Patriots.

The Powerhouses
Let's run down the list: Favre's still got it, McNabb is HOTT (if he can get his team to cooperate), McNair is coming up big, Drew Brees (Saints) should be watched, he's good. Quite honestly, I've never been that impressed with Brady. But with support, he can pull together a team. And, I don't care if you like Payton Manning or not, or are irritated by his accent or commercials or incredibly large paychecks, he is a god on the football field. The Indy-Jets game should get a special mention in powerhouses, because it was a battle to the death. When the game was on the line, Payton stepped up and nailed pass after pass with 2 minutes left in the 4th (which, it should be noted, followed a 103-yard kickoff return for a Jets lead; remember what I was saying about a mental game?). It was phenomenol.

Off topic, the last play of that game, the Jets fumbled and lateral passed the ball about 9 times getting the ball down the field. It didn't come to anything, but MAN did it look cool.

So, those are some examples on why I love the sport of football. The biggest reason, of course, is because the Bears are kickin ass in the morning and takin names in the evening. They walloped the Seahawks (honestly, I didn't know how to feel about this game, these are my two favorite teams!), who are still hot this season. The Bears just dominated in every catagory. Even if the Seahawks had had Alexander, I doubt they would have been a close match to the Bears, who have energy, drive, focus, and a quarterback. The Bears are subsequently 4-0 for the first time since 1991. I am so so so excited to see how they do for the rest of the season.

Baseball Side Note: The Cubs let Dusty go, which won't help the team because Jim Hendry is retarded and can't trade his way out of a paper bag. Felipe Alou also got let go (which is sad, because Moises only left the Cubbies to play for his dad...), Frank Robinson stepped down, and Girardi got fired from the Marlins because, as seen on The Dugout, Jeff Loria is a psycho. I'm hoping the Cubs get Girardi, because he's good. And GO TIGERS!

How you could say that Favre's still on and that Brady hasn't impressed you is beyond me.... Hell, it took Brady two years to amass the number of picks Favre had last year. Brady, even with a shorter career, leads Favre in passer rating by 2 points.

Brady's leading in career stats, but looking at the highest of highs, Favre has been over 90 more than 40% of the time, Brady's almost at 30%. Granted, Favre's been playing longer, but when he's on he's on. Brady to me has always been okay, but nothing special. The key to Tom Brady is his team, he always has the best players backing him up. If he traded places with Favre, he'd be pulling down crappier numbers than Favre. And quite honestly, I dislike the Patriots.

I was told that I have to be nice to you, which is the only reason that I am.
